Viva Las Vegas!
Song of the week... Take it away, Elvis!
Seven photos in black and white, without people and without explanation. They didn't all make it to Facebook due to a few connectivity issues, but here's the full run down:
I have become a huge fan of the 3-day work week! We had Thursday and Friday off to give thanks for things various. I chose to give thanks to our hire car, cheap petrol and Route 93 to Las Vegas.
We are currently paying $2.319 per US gallon for petrol, which works out as 45 pence per litre. I'm figuring out how to bring some home.
On Thursday, I drove to see Elle, Ben and their family in Las Vegas. Elle and I were both University Cadets together, so we first met 22 years ago! We ended up on the same flight during Initial Officer Training at Cranwell, the same Tornado conversion course at Lossiemouth, we lived together for 2 years when we both instructed on XV squadron and then finally, we served together on 31 Squadron together at Marham. She planned on leaving the RAF a few years ago, but was given her dream shot and now she works at Nellis AFB whilst Ben works up the road at Creech AFB.
The journey from Goodyear to Las Vegas is 300 miles and about 4.5 hours. I stopped off at Lake Mead at the border of Arizona and Nevada. Last time I was here was back in 2013 with Nick and his kids; we had a great day out on his boat and it will forever remain one of my favourite memories of my time with Nick.
Elle and Ben live in Summerlin, to the west of Las Vegas in a pokey old married quarter:
We had a great few days together; we took a hike up Mount Charleston and had lunch at the Mount Charleston Lodge:
And Ben and I managed to ride out to Red Rock Canyon:
And then back to Goodyear in time to write my blog and update my matched betting figures! This week's profit £102.80, total profit to date £323.50.
And now, here's this week's horse of the week:
This one was very well behaved and didn't seem to mind me sticking my camera up its nose.
I'm back to work tomorrow, but it looks like the weather is taking a turn for the worse towards the end of this coming week :(
